The current 4mm Diesel traction layout being built by several Club members
Those of you that have been watching this space might have now realised that the project that was Quaker Lane, stagnated somewhat and ground to a complete halt in 2009! The boards are sat in the corner of the clubroom and what could be salvaged has been. The main problem with Quaker Lane was simply this - An ambitious project that started out with a fairly large capable group, dwindled to a hardcore group of 3! It was decided that the complexity of the layout would require at least 6 operators at an exhibition and as we could not guarantee this we decided to stop any further work and reassess the situation.
So where do we stand at the minute? Well we've drawn new plans - smaller but no less interesting and we plan on building this layout to 16.5 finescale standards using an idea that the layout be viewed more as a large diarhama with moving trains! More of this later, but the plan is at stage v3.1 on Templot and baseboards are all but ready to be started.
We'll keep adding to the page as it develops but we also aim to post on RMweb and the blog/workbench pages on here!
Regards
Dave
